Diversity Policy and Strategy

As a public body the Equality Act 2010 requires Tower Hamlets Homes to meet certain statutory duties. The purpose of the statutory duty is to assist public bodies to tackle persistent and long-standing issues of disadvantage. In line with the Equality Act 2010, we are committed to:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people
  • Foster good relations between people 



Diversity Strategy 2015-18

Tower Hamlets Homes is committed to promoting equality and diversity for our customers, staff and the wider community. Our vision for equality and diversity is to be accessible, inclusive and fair for all.

Our Diversity Strategy has been developed in partnership with residents, staff and partner organisations including Stonewall, Rainbow Hamlets, the Somali Integration Team, and the Council. The Strategy has been aligned with the five priority themes of the Equality Framework. The five priority themes are as follows:

  • Meet the diverse needs of resident
  • Promote financial inclusion
  • Promote resident scrutiny and interculturalism
  • Support vulnerable residents – deliver accessible homes, inclusive neighbourhoods and excellent customer care
  • More women and BME staff in senior roles
