We know that the cost of living has made this a very different year for everyone and we're here to help. If you’re struggling to pay rent, please pick up the phone and talk to us. Our friendly team can talk through your rent account and payment options. We have staff who can support you with debts, claim benefits that you may be entitled to and help you save money on bills.

If you're worried about money, stressed about paying rent or in arrears, our Financial Inclusion and Tenancy Support Officers can help Tower Hamlets residents over the phone, by email or face to face. 

How can I get in touch?

Our Financial Inclusion and Tenancy Support Officers can help you over the phone, by email or face to face. We run a drop in session at the Financial Health Centre every Monday. If you need help outside of these times:

Appointments only surgeries

Call us to pre-book an appointment or just drop in - we can offer free, confidential advice on Welfare Reform, including Universal Credit, Bedroom Tax, Benefit Cap and Non-Dependant Deductions. Dates, times and locations of our surgeries are below:

What help is available?

Struggling with rent payments?

If you are having problems paying your rent we can arrange for free independent advice from a financial specialist, or a Financial Inclusion Officer can contact you to discuss and support you with any welfare benefits you may be entitled to.

We can:

  • Talk through your options and give you clear advice
  • Help you get back on track with your payments
  • Set up an ‘any day, any frequency’ Direct Debit
  • Make an agreement with you to pay off your arrears to help you avoid further action
  • Make a referral to a specialist money advice service to help you budget
  • Check you're getting the most out of your benefit and tax credits
  • Let you know where you can get help to open a bank account.

Financial Health Centre

The Financial Health Centre is open to anyone who lives in the Borough of Tower Hamlets. The FHC brings a range of benefits specialists plus training and employment organisations together under one roof. It is a one-stop shop to help people manage their finances or get back into work or training.
