Pay your rent

PLEASE NOTE THAT FROM 1st APRIL 2017 ANY STANDING ORDER PAYMENTS MADE BY YOUR BANK TO CO-OPERATIVE BANK ACCOUNT 61200027 WILL BE REJECTED AND THIS COULD PUT YOUR RENT ACCOUNT INTO ARREARS.

In order to maintain your payments you need to contact your own bank as a matter of urgency to cancel your current Standing Order which is being paid to Co-Operative bank account number 61200027 and set up a new Standing Order to make sure that your rent continues to be received and allocated to your rent account. Please ask your bank to make all future payments of rent to the bank details quoted below.

Important: Changes to rent payment

Please note that the Council has changed its bank account and you may need to update your records. You should change your LBTH payee details immediately if you pay your rent by:

  • Standing Order
  • Online banking through your own bank
  • Telephone banking through your own bank

 You do not need to take any action if you pay your rent by:

  • Telephone payment direct to an officer at Tower Hamlets Homes office
  • The Council’s 24 hour automated payment line
  • Paypoint
  • Post Office
  • Direct Debit
  • By post to the Cashiers Office

Please do not use the old bank account as your payment may be delayed or rejected.

Direct Debit

Paying your rent by direct debit means no queuing in post offices or banks and no worrying about missed or late payments! You stay in control of your money by choosing to pay on the 1st, 5th,12th or 20th of the month. It's a convenient way to pay and helps us keep costs down - and it's backed by the Direct Debit Guarantee.

How do I pay by direct debit? 

  1. Complete a direct debit application form
  2. Return it to us at: Tower Hamlets Homes, Rents Service, PO Box 66355, London, E14 1GU
  3. It usually takes 5 working days to set up a direct debit payment.

Pay your rent by direct debit and you could win £50!

To help you keep your rent payments up to date, we're offering a prize draw for rent payers who pay by Direct Debit. The prize draw is for a £50 Love2shop voucher or £50 credited to your rent account. THH holds four draws a year with four winners per draw.

 

Allpay Payment App

The allpay app is a mobile application (App) available to download from the

Standing Order

Like direct debit, paying by Standing Order is a safe way to pay bills and helps keep costs down. It means no queuing in post offices or banks and no worrying about missed or late payments! You will need to remember to change your standing order if your rent changes.

You can choose to make a regular payment from your bank weekly, fortnightly, every 28 days or calendar monthly (payments must be in advance).

How do I pay by by standing order?

1. Complete a standing order form  

2. Return it to your bank or building society.

 

Rent Payment Card

You can pay rent for your home, garage, parking space or store shed at any Post Office  or PayPoint outlet using a rent payment card.

1. Take your rent payment card to any Post Office and pay with cash, debit card
    or cheque; or

2. Take your rent payment card to any location where you see the PayPoint sign
    and pay with cash

3. You will not be charged for this service, but you will be given a receipt for your
    payment. Keep it safe - you may need it later as proof of payment

How can I get a  rent card?

Credit or debit card

You can pay your rent by phone with your debit or credit card. Call us on 020 7364 5015.

 

Debit card

To make a payment by debit card, anytime call the council's automatic payment line on 020 7364 3800.

 

By post

Send a cheque/postal order payable to London Borough of Tower Hamlets to: Cashier's Payments, London Borough of Tower Hamlets, 62 Roman Road, London E2 0PG (we don't accept cash). Write your name, address, and rent payment number on the back of the cheque or postal order.

 

Direct from your salary

By arrangement with your payroll or personnel section or direct from your salary or pension if you are a Tower Hamlets employee or pensioner by arrangement with your personnel section.
