St Georges Day

On 24 April, residents at Bentworth Court celebrated St George’s Day in style – taking part in festivities organised by Tower Hamlets Homes.

The block, which houses older people in Bethnal Green, was decked out in Union Flags and the flag of St George for the event. Residents were also treated to a visit by both a Pearly King and Queen, who played old East End tunes and encouraged residents into a sing-song.

Allyson Matthews, Community Partnerships Officer at THH said:

“The turnout was brilliant - everyone was in the festive spirit and singing and dancing along with John the Pearly King, it was great to see residents all together having fun and interacting with one another. This type of event is a great way to get local people to get out and see what’s on offer in their local community spaces and allows us to let residents know about all of the other events and services we provide.”

THH organises community events throughout the year, as well as investing in community partnership work to tackle issues like ASB and access to employment and training. For more information about the types of partnership work we offer, visit thh.org.uk
