Tower Hamlets Homes has announced that Susmita Sen has been appointed as the new Chief Executive by its Board.

Susmita joins THH from Network Housing Group where she is Network Stadium Executive Director - responsible for the management and maintenance of 9,500 homes in West London and with oversight of Network’s development in London.

Susmita has previously been Chief Executive of Ealing Homes, and is a former Director of Housing and Interim CEO at Hackney Homes. She has over 20 years of delivering social housing services.

THH has made some marked improvements to a range of services, and was recently ranked second nationally by Stonewall for its approach to workplace equality. The arms’ length management organisation (ALMO) has also delivered over 5,000 Decent Homes.

Ann Lucas, Chair of THH Board, said “I’m extremely pleased to be able to appoint such an outstanding and experienced candidate. THH is in an exciting and important phase and Susmita will provide the expertise and leadership needed to navigate the challenges ahead. I know she is looking forward to working with us and helping us to build on our successes.”

Susmita, who is expected to start her new role in September, said: “I’m looking forward to working with all our staff and enabling THH to build on the great work it has done over the last seven years. Providing high quality customer service will continue to be a massive priority for us.”

THH provides housing services to residents living in 22,000 Tower Hamlets Council homes.

Susmita succeeds Gavin Cansfield who left THH in June after just over six years, to become the new Chief Executive of North Hertfordshire Homes.
