This week(2 April 2014),  Tower Hamlets Homes presented the members of a brand new Tenants and Residents Association – Tarling West – with a start-up cheque worth £162 to help the group get off the ground.

“Tenants and Residents Associations are a great way for residents to get involved in their community, said Les Warren, Director of Customer Services for Tower Hamlets Homes.

“They give a voice to residents who live in the same area and they’re an important forum for residents who want to be involved in how their homes and neighbourhoods are run. The money will help towards the TRAs running costs, such as stationery, telephone and office costs.”

Tarling West is the second Tenants and Residents Association in Shadwell neighbourhood, an area with approximately one thousand council homes managed by Tower Hamlets Homes.

“We’ve worked hard to set up the TRA and Tower Hamlets Homes has helped and supported us throughout the process,” said Lutfur Rahman, Chair of the TRA.

Les Warren added, “It’s important from the outset that we support and encourage residents who are keen to set up a resident group. We are able to offer new and existing Tenants and Residents Associations a wealth of advice, support and resident training.”
