Community Fibre donates £1500 to the Tower Hamlets Emergency Food Appeal

We’re working with Tower Hamlets Council and Community Fibre to bring fibre broadband to the homes we manage, making gigabit-fast broadband available to over 21,000 properties in the borough. In December, the plan to bring better broadband to another 1,502 properties was approved; and to mark this milestone, our partners at Community Fibre have donated one pound per property to the Tower Hamlets Emergency Food Appeal.

Graeme Oxby, Chief Executive of Community Fibre said:

"Community Fibre is always looking for novel ways in which we can give back to the communities we serve. When the plan to bring better Broadband to another 1,502 properties during December was approved with Tower Hamlets Homes and Tower Hamlets Council, we thought it would be right to contribute £1 per property towards the Tower Hamlets Emergency Food Appeal. We hope that our donation will help some of the most vulnerable households during this latest lockdown period."

Will Manning, Director of Asset Management at Tower Hamlets Homes added:

“The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the vital importance of access to high-speed broadband for everyone, with home-working and schooling having been necessary for the majority of households over the past year. Our partnership with Community Fibre means that all of our residents can have access to superfast broadband and our estates will be future-proofed for connectivity and digital inclusion.”

The roll-out of our fibre installation programme begins in early 2021. There is no cost to THH or residents, as fibre installations on all estates are fully funded and managed by internet providers.

You can read more about the programme in the latest edition of our resident magazine, open door.
