The Lesson by Franta Belsky
Turin Street, Bethnal Green, E2

Born in Brno, Czechoslovakia, Belsky was a major force in
British sculpture. His work includes not only traditional statues,
but also large-scale more abstract works. Belsky's belief was that
sculpture was not for the elite but for the delight of the general
public. This bronze mother and child sculpture was installed
on the corner of Turin and Gosset Street 1958/9.
