Wyn Garrett Residents' Resource Centre

The Wyn Garrett Residents' Resource Centre opened in 2002.
It's a place for residents to learn, develop skills, grow
in confidence and participate in improving housing services in a
relaxed and informal setting.
The skills you gain at the Residents' Resource
Centre can be used to improve the effectiveness of your Tenant
and Resident Association or community group. To find out more

Who can use the Centre?
It is available to tenants and home owners of properties
managed by Tower Hamlets Homes who are aged 16 and over.
Who is it aimed at?
It is aimed at residents who want to improve
their understanding of housing issues and take part in developing
residents' groups and work with Tower Hamlets Homes to achieve
better services for tenants and home owners.
I
am in a wheelchair. Will I be able to access the
Centre?
Yes. The centre is fully accessible to
wheelchair users.

Can I get help to pay for my travel
expenses?
On production of a valid receipt, yes. We will
reimburse your travel costs, on public transport, between your home
and the Centre, and back again. If you have a mobility problem, we
may be able to help you with transport arrangements. Please
call to discuss this service.

Resource Library
Whether you want to catch up on the latest developments in housing,

type the minutes of your group's meeting or dip into the history of
social housing, we can help. In the library we keep current copies
of housing journals Inside Housing
and Regeneration & Renewal. We also have an
open access computer with high-speed, internet access. Residents
are welcome to come and use the computer to conduct the business
of their residents' group, type agendas, minutes,
design their newsletter or do their online
networking.

Photocopying and printing facilities
We can help with copying and printing requirements
for your tenant and resident association, panel or group. Please
call us to discuss this service.
Computer training
sessions
We offer courses for complete beginners to introduce you to
basic computing skills, as well as training residents to use Tower
Hamlets Homes web site to access services from home. The skills you
gain at the Centre can be used to improve the effectiveness of your
Tenant and Resident Association or community group. You can learn
how to produce newsletters, design web sites, present letters and
lay out agendas and minutes.
We also cater for residents with visual impairments: we have a
dedicated computer which has a large screen and a large type key
board. All of our computers have a large monitors and a member of
staff can adjust the size of the visual information you wish to
view.
Tenant training sessions

We have a range of training sessions aimed
at people who want to
improve their understanding of housing issues and take part in
developing residents' groups and working with Tower Hamlets Homes
to achieve better services for tenants and leaseholders. These
include: chairing skills, committee skills, fund raising and
understanding housing finance.
All our training is free to tenants and leaseholders of
properties managed by Tower Hamlets Homes.
