Our way to 'Excellence'

Tower Hamlets Homes (THH) is aiming to become an ‘excellent’
housing service, when inspected by the Audit Commission in two
years time. We want to provide consistent, high quality services
that meet the needs and aspirations of our residents and customers.
To achieve this we need the best of our staff, and support from our
residents and partners.
That’s why, together with the Tower
Hamlets Council’s organisational development team, we have decided
to introduce the very first and very own Tower Hamlets Homes
‘Excellent Service’ Award.
The ‘Excellent Service’ Award is a two stage
process.
Staff members, residents or external
organisations working with us (community groups, contractors or
partners) are invited to nominate:
- Best team
- Best employee
- Best manager or
- Best cross-working
team on a monthly basis – this is where employees from at
least two different teams or THH’s partnering organisation come
together to deliver improved service.
Every three months we will advertise our
quarterly winners, who will be chosen by a panel made up of
representatives from various work areas. Staff who are voted ‘best
employee’ and ‘best manager’ will receive £25 worth of vouchers,
and ‘best team’ or ‘best cross-team’ will be awarded £50
vouchers.
Quarterly awards will take place in October,
January, April and July each year. Each of the quarterly winners
will become a nominee in our annual ‘Excellent Service Awards’.
Annual Winners
The final of ‘Excellent Service Award’ will
take place at our annual staff conference next year (date to be
confirmed). Winners of ‘Best Team of the Year’, ‘Best Cross-working
Team of the Year’, ‘Best Manager of the Year’ and ‘Best
Employee of the Year’ will receive prize money which will be
announced at a later date.
As a new organisation we believe that the
recognition of outstanding practice in a day-to-day work, and hard
work of those who deliver ‘excellent service’ for the good of our
community and the organisation, is very important. By setting up
these awards we also want to encourage staff to keep improving the
way they work, to show enthusiasm and commitment, and also
recognise that effective team working really count and is
appreciated.
