If you rent a garage, car space or store shed managed by Tower Hamlets Homes and your account falls into arrears, get in touch with your rent arrears team straight away. We will be able to offer you advice to help deal with the problem.

Most arrears cases can be dealt with relatively simply, but if it is not possible we will end your licence so that these charges do not add to your rent or service charge arrears.If you get behind with your rent:

  • we will take steps – including sending you a warning letter and a 7 day notice - to end your garage, car space or store shed licence.
  • we will take back the facility and any parking permit if we have to end your licence.
  • we will charge you the cost of changing any lock if you don’t hand back your keys, or the cost of clearing any items you leave in the facility.

We will take legal action against you to recover arrears for garage, car space and store sheds and you may be liable for court costs.

It’s in your interest to contact us as quickly as possible,if you cannot pay your rent for any reason.
