Play area fun day goes with a swing.

A fun day organised by Tower Hamlets Homes
Community Development Officers, with local residents, marked the
launch of the newly refurbished play area on the Locksley estate,
this weekend.
The project has been completed following
feedback from Locksley residents who said that providing a
playground should be a priority for the area.
The event, which was held at Rhodeswell Road,
Limehouse on Saturday April 18, included a range of entertainment;
face painting, henna artists, magician, balloon maker as well as
plenty of light refreshments for everyone. Play Association Tower
Hamlets (PATH), The Safer Neighbourhoods Team, Primary Care Trust
and THH Resident Engagement Team joined in the celebrations, and
were on hand to give residents help and advice.
The new play area means that parents and
youngsters can relax and play together in a safer, cleaner
environment. One mum-of-two, who lives on the estate, told us “I
think the play area is fantastic for the children. Instead of being
at home all day, they now have somewhere nice to go and play.”
The play area has benefited from £60k funding
from the Government, secured by the Tower Hamlets council, to help
improve local communities. A new nest swing, climbing frame, slide
and outdoor table tennis means youngsters will be kept entertained
the whole year round, whilst mums and dads can get together with
other parents and relax on the new oak benches overlooking the play
area.
