Police community support officers get their wheels

Tower Hamlets Homes presented Police
Community Support Officers from Bethnal Green and Shadwell
Safer Neighbourhoods teams with six new police bikes earlier
this month.
The bikes, funded by the Tower Hamlets Homes, will enhance the
local Police Community Support Officers patrol of estates in
Bethnal Green and Shadwell, and provide a visible and reassuring
presence on the streets as well as help tackle
anti-social behaviour.
Tower Hamlets Homes is committed to reducing
anti-social behaviour on estates and follows the council’s plans
for community safety.
The council was the one of the first boroughs
to receive Safer Neighbourhoods teams, helping residents to feel
safer in their local areas.
Tower
Hamlets Council’s Community Safety Strategy ensures
the police, local services and Tower Hamlets
Homes continue to work together so that
residents feel safer.
The bikes will help to increase the
presence of the mobile police service on estates managed
by Tower Hamlets Homes.
