Wates Living Space has donated a brand new kitchen to a
local community centre on the Berner Estate, Shadwell –
in a bid to stop it from closing down.
The Children’s Education Community Group, who
provide vital lunches for older residents, approached Tower Hamlets
Homes and asked for help after their ageing kitchen was falling
apart and in danger of shutting down for good.
We asked Decent Homes contractor, Wates Living
Space, as part of their commitment to invest in the communities
they work in, if they could help.
Andrew Grant, Project Manager, Wates Living
Space, said, “We were really pleased to be able to help local
residents. We donated all the materials and labour needed to
modernise the kitchen.”
Jamalur Rahman, Chair of the Children’s
Education Group, said the centre ‘looks so much better’. “The new
kitchen means we’ll be able to continue to provide essential
services to local people.”
Gavin Cansfield, Chief Executive of Tower
Hamlets Homes said, “I know the Children's Education Group very
well and I know that they provide vitally important services for
their neighbourhoods. It’s great to see them benefiting from
their new kitchen.”
