Tower Hamlets Homes’ residents have said that
tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB) where they live is a top
priority for them. In response, the THH Residents’ Panel,
which scrutinises the services provided by the housing organisation
and how they are performing, have now selected ASB as their first
area of scrutiny.
A special Resident Scrutiny Team has been set
up to:
- take an in-depth look at this service;
- find out what is really happening from a
tenant’s perspective;
- make their recommendations about how the
service can be improved.
“As residents, we all want to see THH, the
Council and the Police work together to tackle ASB quickly and
effectively. We want residents to feel safe where they live,
and we hope this review will help to make things better”, says
Zoinul Abidin, chair of the scrutiny team.
Gavin Cansfield, Chief Executive of Tower
Hamlets Homes said, “The Residents’ Panel can really help THH
improve the services we deliver and I think they are absolutely
right to have chosen to focus on anti-social behaviour. We
know this is an important issue for residents, and I look forward
to the findings from their review.”
The Scrutiny Team will be meeting with
residents who are using, or have used recently, the ASB service to
find out about their experience. They will also speak to THH
officers to check that the service reflects residents’ needs.
They hope to report their findings to the THH Board in September
2012.
