Morrison throw a line to help elderly residents ailing
fish
Morrison, one of our building contractors, has
stepped in to give residents in the north of the borough a helping
hand to look after a fish pond. The pond, which sits in a communal
garden in one of our small housing estates, gives pleasure to many
elderly and disabled residents whose homes overlook it. But when
one of our caretakers retired last year, it left just a handful of
elderly residents and the area office to help look after the fish
whenever they could – until that is, our partners, Morrison stepped
in.
They set about replacing the pump to the
fountain and tidying up the plants and shrubs that lie around the
edge of the pond. They even bought some specially prepared food for
carp giving the fish a real boost. Now they’re busy planning to buy
some new plants and fish for the pond.
“A few of the guys at Morrison have a real
interest in fish and fish keeping. After the caretaker left, we
felt we couldn’t stand by and let the residents do all the hard
work, so we decided to step in and lend a hand” said Dave Salmon of
Morrison. “Helping out residents and the area office in this way
definitely demonstrates the positives which can be achieved when
organisations work together effectively”
