Young residents in Spitalfields and Banglatown have created their
own mural thanks to the help and support of big-hearted
volunteers.
East London Business Alliance, an alliance of
120 City and Canary Wharf companies all of them determined to help
in the regeneration of east London, brought together staff from
local businesses keen to donate their time and skills and who spent
two days working with the youngsters to create the wall art.
The project, which received support from Allen
& Overy, Deutsche Bank, Tower Hamlets Homes and Tower Hamlets
Local Area Partnership, saw young people aged from 5 to 15 design
and paint their own vision of the London skyline and River
Thames.
“It’s a great project to be involved in”,
explains Taj Uddin, Community Development Officer for Tower Hamlets
Homes. “This was a unique experience for young people to meet and
find out about the work of city professionals, and to work with
them to deliver the mural.”
