Residents in the Sidney neighbourhood are helping us
impr
ove what we do and
how we do it thanks to a special Neighbourhood
Action Day about local housing issues.
The event, which took place on Saturday
12th June, was held on the green, opposite Zion House,
Jubilee Street.
The idea behind the action day was to get
residents to talk to their local housing team (pictured
below) about the challenges affecting them and where they
live, and how they’d like to see them improve.
On hand to listen to what residents had to say
and provide advice and support were the Neighbourhood Housing
Officer, leasehold services, resident engagement, major works,
repairs, anti-social behaviour and vulnerability staff.
“It was
a really useful day” said Christine Foley, who is the Neighbourhood
Housing Manager for Stepney and Wapping.
“It’s been good to talk to residents because
we get to hear first hand the issues that are most important to
them, like anti-social behaviour, overcrowding and vulnerability
issues. And the better we know residents, the better we can tailor
our services to suit their needs.”
“One resident told us they were having
overcrowding problems that we were able to help with. We’ve already
arranged a home visit to discuss their situation. Another resident
told us they were in need of extra support and we were able to help
by contacting the
older and disabled residents decorating scheme on their
behalf.”
More Neighbourhood Action Days will be held this year for
residents to meet their Neighbourhood Housing Officer and their
local housing team. So if you have a problem you think we might be
able to help with why not come along? Watch out for details
of when we’ll be round your way.
