Harvesting a healthier, happier lifestyle

Cranbrook Community Food GardenCommunity gardeners on Cranbrook took delivery of a brand new greenhouse, last weekend. Funded by Tower Hamlets Homes’ Making a Difference Fund, the new structure now means the community gardeners can extend the growing season and produce home grown fruit and vegetables all year round.

The garden project started when local residents asked Tower Hamlets Homes if they could turn an area in front of Modling House into an alloment for local residents to grow fresh food. The idea grew and grew, and residents have built up a thriving garden community, growing their own fruit and vegetables and cutting down on their shopping bills.

Cranbrook Community Food Garden“The garden is a great opportunity for residents to learn how to grow their own produce, eat healthier food and meet new friends. It’s a fantastic asset for all the community,” said Laura, community gardener.

Cranbrook community gardeners hold a garden meeting every fortnight, on a Wednesday. The next meeting is the Wednesday 2 June. Local residents are welcome.

If you would like to join the community food garden please visit their website http://www.cranbrookcommunityfoodgarden.com/ and fill in an application form. No gardening experience is necessary.

The Food Garden is situated next to the Cranbrook Community Centre  adjacent to the Avenue in the centre of the Cranbrook Estate, Mace Street Bethnal Green, London E2.
