Hollybush & Teesdale’s community
garden
scooped first prize for the Best Food
Growing Garden in Tower Hamlets in Bloom 2009 competition - and
second prize in the Best Community Garden section!
The garden which has gone from a dis-used
space to an award-winning allotment in just two years is the
creation of the Hollybush & Teesdale Tenants and Residents
Association (TRA).
After hearing that many of the residents on
the estate were passionate gardeners but had no where to grow their
own food, the TRA came up with the idea of setting up a fruit and
vegetable garden in the dis-used space for the whole community to
enjoy.
The Chair of the TRA is pictured receiving the
award from the Mayor of Tower Hamlets.
The Cranbrook Community Garden, Bethnal
Green, was highly commended in the Best Communal Residential Garden
section.
Congratulations to all the prize winners!
