Community Fun Day goes with a swing
010609
A fun day, organised by Tower Hamlets Homes Community
Development Officers and residents, marked the launch of the new
play area on the Chicksand Estate. The project has been completed
following feedback from residents who said that providing a
playground was a priority for the area.
The event, held last Saturday, provided fun
for all the family, including face painting, henna artists, balloon
modelling and plenty of food and light refreshments for everyone,
Global Action Plan and Tower Hamlets Homes Resident Engagement Team
all joined in the celebrations, and were on hand to give residents
help and advice.
The new play area means that parents and
youngsters can relax and play together in a safer, cleaner
environment. A new nest swing, climbing frame, slide and outdoor
table tennis means youngsters will be kept entertained the whole
year round.
The play area has benefited from approximately £60k funding from
the Government, secured by Tower Hamlets council, to help
improve local communities.
