700 new doors have now been successfully
fitted to residents’ homes.
Apart from looking much smarter, the new doors
have the added benefits of making tenants’ homes more secure and
provide much better heat insulation, which will help keep fuel
bills down during winter. They are also British Standard fire
and smoke resistant, so will help prevent any fires from
spreading.
Sultana Choudhury of Beechy House says, “I’m
pleased with my new door. I love the colour I chose – red is my
favourite! It makes my entrance look much smarter.”
Councillor Marc Francis and Gavin Cansfield,
Chief Executive of Tower Hamlets Homes, visited Mrs Choudhury to
see her new door.
“I’m very impressed with the block and all its
new doors”, says Cllr Francis. “It is vital that we continue
to improve Tower Hamlets residents’ homes and that residents feel
more secure in their homes”.
Gavin Cansfield added, “This is great example
of the excellent work Tower Hamlets Homes has been doing
recently. We hope to continue our doors programme and replace
doors on more blocks over the next few months.”
The current programme of works includes 850
new doors at Tower Hamlets Homes blocks across the borough.
