Looking after your estate

Tower Hamlets Homes Caretaking and Estate Services clean and
look after the public areas of buildings and estates managed by
Tower Hamlets Homes - this includes communal areas
in your block and grassed and paved areas on
your estate.
We're responsible for concierges,
horticulture work (pruning, weeding and mowing), graffiti and rapid
response teams and block improvement work on your estate, as
well as the Rapid Response team.
Your caretaking service is delivered from
your Local Service Centre. It's managed by two Area
Caretaking Managers, one in the north and one in the
south.

Caretaking Support and Graffiti Teams

Caretaking Support and Graffiti Teams help free up
caretakers’ time from dealing with time consuming one-off chores –
such as clearing up refuse spills, removing graffiti, unblocking
chutes or after incidents on estates – allowing caretakers to
get on with their regular programme of caretaking and estate
maintenance.

problem?

Recycling

The council provides a weekly collection of mixed recyclables
– paper, card, glass, cans, aerosols, plastic bottles and Tetra Pak
cartons. There is no need to separate the different materials and
you will be provided with purple recycling bins or pink sacks.
Most properties have now been set up with a recycling collection
and the council is working hard to extend the service to all
remaining properties this year. If you don’t yet have recycling
please contact the council's recycling team on
020 7364 5004 - this will help speed up the
introduction of recycling to your household.
Visit Tower Hamlets council's website for more
information.
Rubbish collection
The council is responsible for the collection and disposal of
your household refuse. This is a vital service that makes your
area a healthy, safe and clean place to live.
If you are having a problem with your refuse collection
service, or want to report a missed refuse collection, you
can report
the problem online (links to Tower Hamlets council's
website) or contact the council's customer contact centre
on 020 7364 5004.
Alternatively, you can tell your Local
Service Centre.

Bulk rubbish

Have you got an old fridge or washing machine that you don’t
want any more? Or old furniture or other pieces of household
equipment you’ve been meaning to get rid of?
If you have, did you know the council offers
a FREE collection service for bulky items?
You can have things like washing machines and old fridges that are
too big for the usual refuse collection collected for FREE.
Each household can use this service twice a year, with
up to five items per collection. (There is a charge involved if
more than two collections are needed.)
Senior citizens and people with disabilities are entitled
to unlimited collections.
You can arrange a collection by contacting the council's Street
Services on 020 7364 5004 or by visiting the
council’s website:
http://www.towerhamlets.gov.uk/data/environment/forms/data/special-collections.cfm to request
collection online.
