Keeping your building and property secure

If you have a door entry system in your block, please make sure you use it properly – it can help prevent unauthorised people getting into your block.

Here’s some useful tips to help keep you, your home and your block safe :

• make sure that the door always locks behind you
• never leave the entrance or side doors open or propped open
• try not to allow other people to follow you into the block even if they appear genuine (they should press the button for the flat they are visiting)
• report any faults immediately

• use your spy hole check to see who the caller is before opening the door
• keep your door chain on when you open the door
• if you do not know who the caller is ask to see their identity card - and check it carefully
• if you are unsure about the caller, confirm who they are. Ask them to stay outside while you phone the company or organisation they say they’re from
• phone us if it is a contractor who has come to carry out repair work
