Altering your property
We all want to make improvements to our home from time to
time. If you are a leaseholder, you must have written
permission from your Neighbourhood Housing Officer
before carrying out any improvement works.
You will be in breach of your lease if you
don’t - and in extreme cases, you may even risk of losing your
home.
If you have any questions about altering your
property-contact us,we're here to
help.
More about altering
your property
We always try to agree any request to
improve or alter your home - but it may not always be possible. If
we can’t give permission we will write and tell you why.
If you intend to make improvements or
additions to your property you may need Planning Permission or
Building Regulations approval as well as our permission.
It’s important that work to alter or
improve your property is carried out by a qualified person and to a
proper standard. This is to ensure you and your neighbours’
safety.
You can find out if you need planning or
building control consent, please get in touch with the
Council’s planning team on 020 7364 5009.
