Defects - What to do if something goes wrong after the work has been completed

Sometimes things break or go wrong with your new kitchen or bathroom once we have finished the work in your home. Your contractor is liable for up to 12 months (depending on the type of repair needed) and is required to put things right. This type of repair is called a ‘defect’ repair.

If you experience a ‘defect repair’ relating to your new kitchen or bathroom, or other works you have had done during the Decent Homes programme, you should report them to Tower Hamlets Homes, as you would for a normal repair. Tower Hamlets Homes will ask your contractor to contact you and carry out any necessary repairs.

12 months after works have been completed

After the 12 months liability period (following the satisfactory completion of any defects), Tower Hamlets Homes will be responsible for repairs to your home; you should contact them through your normal repairs reporting procedure. back>
