We‘re launching four new community food
gardens this month in the following neighbourhoods - the whole
neighbourhood is invited to make it a fun and informative day:
- Shadwell (two gardens)
- Boundary
- Malmesbury
As well as the fun launch, we
will be allocating plots to residents who have expressed an
interest in one.
The aims of the day include:
- Promote the garden and encourage healthier living and
eating.
- Encourage residents to understand and care for their
environment.
- Encourage residents to recycle more and reduce waste
- Encourage residents to play a more pro-active role in improving
their neighbourhoods.
- Promote how residents can access our services and be more
involved.
- Consult residents and involve them in what we are doing in our
neighbourhoods – i.e. Neighbourhood Action Plans.
- Discuss with residents what we are doing about key issues such
as ASB and how they can help us manage this better.
- Give us an opportunity to find out more about our residents and
how we can make our services more accessible and useful.
The three Action Days will be held on
Saturdays between 11am and 2pm.
Staff from the Neighbourhood Housing Office,
ASB officers, and horticulture staff and contractors will pop
along. The Tower Hamlets recycling team, the Healthy Borough
Programme team and Tower Hamlets PCT will also be
there.
