THH is excited to announce that we will be supporting Teesdale and Hollybush estate and St Margaret’s House to stage “Our Place, Our Story” over the coming months.

This community play will be devised, written and performed by residents of all ages, celebrating their lives, the estate’s diverse cultural backgrounds, community cohesion, and hopes for the future.

Teesdale and Hollybush TRA wanted to have more fun and creative activities on the estate and to do something that brings the whole community together. When St Margaret’s House became involved, the idea of a play began to come together, and the project kicked off after the group received a grant through THH’s Inspiring Communities Fund.

"Our Place, Our Story" will come to life during weekly workshops that will take place at both Kedleston Walk Community Centre, based on the estate, and also at St. Margaret’s House, which is around the corner on Old Ford Road. These workshops are starting on 24 April, and will then take place every Wednesday from 4.30-6.30pm, and will lead to two celebratory performances in August, one in each location.

THH residents of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to get involved, whether as actors, helping out behind-the-scenes with costumes and set design, or front of house. You do not need to have any experience, just a willingness to join in and have fun. Taking part is completely free.

“Our Place, Our Story” offers the chance for you to unleash your creativity and make new friends, as well as to celebrate the local community. To find out more information, email community@stmargaretshouse.org.uk or just turn up at Kedleston Walk Community Centre at 4.30pm on any Wednesday after 24 April to get involved.
