Eid in the market celebrations

Join us as we celebrate Eid Al-Adha at two community events in the borough on Wednesday 7 August (Roman Rd Square, 12-4pm) and Wednesday 14 August (Watney market, 12-4pm). Eid in the market

Eid Al-Adha is one of two Eid celebrations (the other is Eid al-Fitr) and marks the end of the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. This year Eid Al-Adha starts on Sunday, August 11, and ends four days later on Thursday, August 15.

Our Eid Al-Adha celebrations will take place at:

  • Roman Road Square, Roman Rd, Globe Town, London E2 0RN - Wednesday 7 August, 12-4pm
  • Watney Market, Watney Street, E1 – Thursday 15 August, 12-3pm

Both events are open to all local residents; we’ll have free, fun activities for kids and adults alike, so join us at either event – everyone is welcome.

Tower Hamlets Homes’ Chief Executive, Susmita Sen, said:

“At this time of year Muslim communities across Tower Hamlets will be celebrating Eid al-Adha and joining with family and friends in celebration.

“Throughout the year I have been speaking to community groups and seeing first-hand the great work they do to promote tolerance and diversity on our estates and throughout our borough. Events like these help us to recognise and celebrate the values we all share and look to what unites rather than divides us.”
