Tower Hamlets Homes in Workplace Equality Top Ten

Posted on Tuesday 19th January 2016

Tower Hamlets Homes (THH) has been ranked an impressive 5th in Stonewall's
Workplace Equality Index – once again keeping the housing provider among
the top 10 highest performing organisations in the country.

Stonewall Top 100 Employers highlights the best workplaces and employers
for lesbian, gay, bi and trans staff.

THH’s David Ali from Environmental Services team, was also awarded the
prestigious ‘Role Model of Year’. David is a THH caretaker in the
Environmental Services department; born in Tower Hamlets to a Bangladeshi
father and White British mother. Stonewall said he ‘epitomised’ the
diversity of the borough and the LGBT community.

Susmita Sen, THH Chief Executive said: ‘I’m absolutely delighted for David
and for THH as we continue to be one of the leading organisations for
equality.  Equality for our staff is hugely important to us. We recognise
that creating the right workplace culture enables our staff to be
themselves and focus on supporting our residents.”

Ruth Hunt, Chief Executive, Stonewall said:  “Tower Hamlets Homes and all
of those employers that secured a place in the Stonewall Top 100 Employers
2016 list performed fantastically this year. We have had more submissions
than ever before and so making the list is a huge achievement. I’d like to
thank all of those organisations for their continued efforts to ensure that
their lesbian, gay, bi and trans staff feel comfortable to bring their
whole selves to work and are accepted without exception.”

Further Information:

- Over 400 employers submitted entries to the 2016 Index, the
