Tower Hamlets Homes 'LGBTea' project, improving housing services for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender residents in Tower Hamlets took first place at the National TPAS awards last week.

The award marks the third successive time Tower Hamlets Home has won the Excellence in Equality and Diversity category.

Lesbian, gay and bisexual residents have the opportunity to talk to housing officers in confidence about their housing issues at monthly drop-in sessions held by THH at Positive East, Mile End Road. Over 100 residents have attended the drop-in sessions.

Gavin Cansfield, Tower Hamlets Homes Chief Executive said, “We’re absolutely delighted to receive this award for the third successive year. It’s a fantastic result.”

“Delivering services in a way that is fair for everyone is a top priority for Tower Hamlets Homes.”

THH plans more drop-in sessions in the future, to be run in partnership with Rainbow Hamlets, which will be open to all LGBT people living and working in Tower Hamlets

The TPAS National award ceremony took place at Chesford GrangeHotel, Warwickshire on Thursday, 10 July 2014.
