Nominations for the fourth STAR in the Community Awards are now open and the search has begun to find inspirational Tower Hamlets residents who volunteer their time to make a difference to the communities where they live.

The awards celebrate the local heroes in the borough who go the extra mile. This could be someone who does community or youth work, someone who has overcome a personal obstacle to achieve success, someone who organises events for local people, or someone who simply supports and helps others in their local area.

If you know someone who fits this description, why not show them how much you appreciate what they are doing and nominate them for a STAR in the Community Award? Deadline Monday, 1st September 2014.

We are looking for nominees who have made a difference to a neighbourhood in Tower Hamlets managed by EastEnd Homes, Gateway HA, One Housing Group, Providence Row Housing Association, Spitalfields HA, Swan HA, Tower Hamlets Community Housing and Tower Hamlets Homes.

We are looking for nominations in five categories:

  • Inspirational resident award
  • Young people’s award (under 25’s only)
  • Contribution to resident involvement award
  • Bringing people together award
  • Environmental award

The last four categories are open to individuals or groups.

Winners will be judged by a panel of independent  judges and announced at a special award ceremony in November.

The STAR in the Community Awards are run in partnership by EastEndHomes, Gateway HA, One Housing Group, Providence Row Housing Association, Spitalfields HA, Swan HA, Tower Hamlets Community Housing and Tower Hamlets Homes.
