Equality information

The Equality Act 2010 requires us to meet certain statutory duties. The purpose of the statutory duty is to assist public bodies to tackle persistent and long-standing issues of disadvantage.

In line with the Equality Act 2010, we work to:

  • End unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people
  • Foster good relations between people

The Equality Act covers the following nine protected characteristics:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender reassignment
  • Pregnancy and maternity 
  • Race
  • Religion or belief
  • Sex
  • Sexual orientation
  • Marriage and civil partnership
